After the Second World War, Erling Ragnvald Brekke (1919-2017) worked together with his brothers Bernhard, Alexander and Fredrik in the company. The Germans imprisoned him for 4 years during the war because of his efforts for his country.

The company was later divided into different parts and he took over the old parent company in Trondheim. A period of great expansion followed. He established Bolighuset Teppebryggen AS (1956), Skumplastkjelleren Teppebryggen AS (1963), Nordenfjelske Byggcentrum AS (1964) and Skumplastfabrikken AS (1964). Skumplastfabrikken gradually became the dominant part of the business, and was later (1986) renamed to Brekke Industrier AS.

In 1954 Erling R. Brekke was appointed to Honorary Consul for Estonia by the exile government in Stockholm. He devoted a lot of his time to his interest in transcendental meditation.

In 1981, Erling R. Brekke founded the foundation Byggmessefondet. The fund was founded to provide support for charity.
