Mathias Brekke (1887-1972) joined the firm in 1909 and became
a partner in 1914 after having worked for 4 years in London,
Hamburg and Paris. He stayed in North- and South America 1917-18,
which gained him general agencies, mainly within grocery products,
for Scandinavia, Holland, Belgium and Germany. The company
established branches in Kristiansund, Bergen, Oslo and Hamburg,
and employed agents in Holland, Belgium and Germany. Under
his leadership the firm owned a shipping company, Trøndelag
Tobakksfabrikk Ltd, Tommen Gram Ltd, as well as a large interest
in Dyre Halse Ltd and Tinboden Sildolje & Kraftforfabrik
M. Brekke was consular agent for USA 1917-21 and Estonian
honorary consul from 1921. Like his father and his brother
Reidar Brekke, he was very keen on salmon fishing and hunting.
This made him establish a hunting- and fishing bureau as well
as market hunting- and fishing rights abroad.
